Stainless Steel Chimney Liners

Protect your brick chimney from corrosion, improve draft and make your system safer.

About this service

Why it matters

Most older Maine chimneys were built with clay tile flues, or no liner at all. Over time, heat, moisture and the acidic by-products of burning wear down mortar and tile, letting heat and gases reach places they shouldn't.

A stainless steel liner gives your stove, insert or fireplace a smooth, correctly sized flue from top to bottom. That means a stronger draft, less creosote sticking to the walls, and a chimney that's protected for years to come.

Questions

Common questions

Do I need a liner for a new insert?

In most cases, yes. Inserts need a properly sized flue running the full height of the chimney to draft and vent safely.

Why stainless steel?

Stainless resists heat and corrosion, and a round, smooth liner drafts better and collects less creosote than old tile.

Does it need insulation?

Often it does. Insulation keeps the flue warmer for better draft and less build-up, and can be required for clearances. We'll tell you what your chimney needs.
